Bio

Prof. Chuck Freilich was a deputy national security advisor in Israel. He is now a senior fellow at Harvard's Kennedy School of Government and teaches political science at Harvard, Columbia and Tel Aviv Universities. He is the author of three books: Zion’s Dilemmas: How Israel Makes National Security Policy; Israeli National Security: A New Strategy for an Era of Change – the only public proposal ever for an Israeli national security strategy; and Israel and the Cyber Threat. He has also published numerous academic articles and some 150 op-eds in the NY Times, Haaretz and other papers on a variety of Middle Eastern issues. Prof. Freilich regularly offers commentary on a range of global news outlets including CNN, NBC and NPR. After making aliyah as a teenager, Prof. Freilich served as a delegate at the Israeli Mission to the UN, policy advisor to a cabinet minister, senior analyst at the Israel Ministry of Defense, and finally as a deputy national security advisor.
