Bio
Ambassador Gideon Meir has played an integral role in Israeli foreign affairs for 45 years. At his first post at the Israeli Embassy in Washington DC, he was a member of the negotiation team for the Egyptian Peace Treaty and the official delegation to Camp David. He has directed diplomatic missions around the world, overseeing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' (MFA) Public Diplomacy arm, he served as Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM) in Ottawa and London. His diplomatic career culminated with his appointment as Ambassador to Italy, and subsequent appointment as the MFA's Director General for Public Diplomacy. After retiring from the Foreign Ministry, Amb. Meir was elected to his city council in Mevaseret Zion.
